Specialists in Hose Burst Protection
Hose burst protection valves also known as load holding valves, hose rupture valves, hose rupture control valves, craning valves, hose safety valves, check and metering valves, anti-burst valves, counterbalance valves, controlled lowering device and over centre valves are required to conform to the ISO8643 regulation fitted on all earthmoving equipment used as a crane, where the rated capacity exceeds 1 tonne. Valves should be fitted on critical hydraulic cylinders. It is recommended the valves meet the requirements of rated capacity as outlined in AS 1418.8 section 5.4.3.
To prevent these suspended loads from dropping in the event of a hydraulic hose that is conveying the hydraulic power to support that load was to burst due to damage, fatigue, incorrect manufacture or installation. A HBPV installed correctly will lock the hydraulic cylinder preventing downward movement of the suspended load reducing the risk of damage, injury or fatality.
IMPORTANT: It is the owner’s responsibility to ensure that these valves are installed and set correctly to comply with the safety standards. Incorrect installation and/or adjustment could result in severe injury, disability or death!
